Organic Skincare

I've been lucky enough to test out some organic hair and skincare products from Green People. I'm already a big fan of natural hair & skincare products and try and go for a chemical free alternative wherever possible.

Over the past couple of weeks I've been using:

Quinoa & Artichoke Shampoo and Conditioner

I love this Shampoo & Conditioner combo, it smells great and leaves my hair feeling soft and smooth without feeling like all my hair's natural oils have been stripped.

This is a big favourite of mine. I love making my own body scrubs but often find that can be a tad too rich for my face. This exfoliator left my skin feeling really soft but not dry.

Such a light and nourishing moisturiser and worked well even on my combination skin.

Tinted moisteriser is such a great idea! I love using this after I've surfed, it gives my skin a nice glow without looking like I am wearing a full face of make up.

I have been a fan of Green People for a a few years now after discovering their mascara.

For as long as I can remember I have always purchased make up from the high street without considering how it was produced or what chemicals it contained. It wasn't until I started getting extremely itchy and bloodshot eyes that I thought I best try organic make up.

Green People Volumising Mascara is made without mercury, formaldehyde, parabens, petrochemicals, methylisothiazolinone, methylchloroisothiazolinone, phthalates and synthetic colourants to bring you the purest mascara that nature can offer. This mascara is also suitable for sensitive eyes just like mine!

I  urge you all to try organic hair and skincare products and choose quality over quantity. This could even be one of your New Years resolutions. It's such a simple one to do and your body will thank you for it.

I have a long old winter ahead of me and I know my summer glow is going to fade rapidly but fear not my pale winter skin Tan Organic have come to the rescue and sent me some organic tanning products to use at home.

I will be brutally honest fake tan scares me. Living in Newquay in the summer I have seen many a dodgy fake tan and I really didn't want to resemble a orange this winter. I've only ever had one spray tan before and that faded so patchy that I never tired it again but the thought of trying a tanning product that is actually good for my skin intrigued me.

I first heard about Tan Organic when giving organic skincare a google and thought there would be no harm in trying their products especially ready for the festive season.

Making sure I followed their instruction word for word I tested out Tan Organic last week and I love it!

I used the Tan Erase Exfoliator Glove on my skin to prep for the tan. I focussed on my knees, ankles and elbows as they're usually the driest parts. Once my skin was prepped I then began the tanning process. Using the Self Tan and the Luxury Tan Mitt I applied the tan all over making sure I evenly spread the oil.

What I really loved about this product is that it doesn't smell like fake tan! It doesn't have the horrible biscuit smell that normal fake tanning products have. It went on so easily and gradually built throughout the day. After 4-6 hours I washed it off to reveal sun kissed skin. I looked like I'd just got back off a lovely little sun holiday.

I would 100%  recommend Tan Organic to anyone that wants that straight off the beach look. I have surfed in the Tan and it still stayed on.

Once I begin to fade which was a good week after applying the tan I simply used the Tan Erase Exfoliator Glove to remove the tan. It's so easy to use and if you want to use a product that is even easier than that then try their Self Tanning Oil which is a worlds first. You simply apply like any other body oil, wash your hands and you're ready to go.

Tan Organic know their stuff and only use Natural Ingredients  such as Avocado Oil, Ginger Root Extract and Chamomile. I can't wait to use the products again ready for Christmas Day!

Positive Energy

When you find something you love do it as much as you can. Why deprive yourself of the things that make you truly happy?

We spend so much time worrying about the things we cannot control and not enough time focussing on the things we can. Happiness is in our hands and we cannot rely on other people to make us happy. Do more things that make you smile and exude positive energy.

I certainly don't want to look back on my life and just see "things" I want to have memories, feelings and emotions and if 90% of those are happy then I'll be stoked.  Happiness is letting go of what you think your life is supposed to look like and celebrating it for everything that it is.

With a new year approaching we will all begin reflecting on the year we have just had, the highs, the lows, the laughter and the tears. We can learn from this year and take our mistakes and use them as a platform to make a change. If you hate your job change it, if you want to get fit do it, or if you want to surf more SURF MORE! We can spend so much time making excuses for things but really the only people the blame if you don't achieve our goals are ourselves.

In the end we only regret the chances we didn't take so get out there, spread some positive energy and live the life you want.

How to get beach waves hair

I recently posted a image of my hair on Instagram and I had a few questions about how I got my curls to look this way, so I thought I would dedicate a blog post to my locks.

Naturally my hair is quite curly but sometimes I like to go for the more tamed tousled look, just like I am straight off the beach. So here's how I get my hair to look like I've been chilling on the beach all day even when I've really been hibernating from the cold!

Shampoo and Condition your hair  -  I use Green People Quinoa & Artichoke Shampoo and Conditioner.

After washing take a small amount of Lucy Bee Coconut Oil (around the size of a penny) rub it into your palms and then into the ends of your hair.

Comb through with a wide tooth comb and place in a centre parting.

Dry your hair  -  if you have the patience to give yourself a proper blow dry then go for it. If not just blast dry your hair ensuring there's no damp bits.

Section your hair off  -  I like to go for school girl plaits and work on one side at a time. I have SO much hair so it makes it easier this way.

I use my Tresemme Curling Wand and wrap small sections of my hair around the wand.

I do this all over them loosen the curls with my fingers so it falls into soft waves.

I actually recently visited Number 8 Hairdressing for my monthly cut and colour. The've been cutting my hair for 8 years and will be doing my wedding hair next may!

This time I went for some Bleach London Rose pink. Just a few hints in the ends of my hair for this festive season!

Let's get festive

I love this time of year. The food, the smells the colours I could go on. Christmas has always been so magical for me and I'm a big fan of getting in the festive mood and what better place to do just that then in the capital.
I spent last weekend in London wandering around the streets of Brick Lane and indulging in the culinary delights it had to offer.
Merry Christmas everyone ... Now where's the mulled wine?!
