I love nothing more than packing up my rucksack, chucking my board and wetsuit in my car and heading off for the day adventuring around Cornwall, in search of some fun waves. The weather doesn't put me off and it shouldn't stop any of us adventuring and the things we loved doing over the summer months we should try and continue to do over autumn and winter.

As much as I love heading out for a surf often spending time out in the elements can play havock with my hair and skin and sometimes I need to take a little more care of myself as the temperatures begin to change.

I have a few products from Made for Life by Spiezia Organics that I love to pop in my bag and use before and after surfing. These are products that can make the world of difference to my hair and skin and help me embrace the day ahead. I've decided to share my favourite Spiezia Organics products over a series of blog posts and this week I am going to share my love for their Head and Hair Oil.

We're on the cusspe of winter and as the water temperatures begin to drop it's time dust off the winter surf attire and dig a little deeper for that motivation to surf throughout winter.

For many years I used to practically give up surfing in the winter because I couldn't stand the cold. It wasn't until I invested in a good winter wetsuit, boots, gloves and a hood that I began surfing all year round. Why I ever stopped surfing because of the cold I don't know but there really is no reason to deprive yourself of those amazing winter surfs, when all you really need to do is find the right kit to keep you warm in and out of the water.

When you fall in love with surfing you will want to do it whatever the weather but that can mean surfing in rain, hail, snow, maybe even when it's blowing a gail and you really do need to be equipped for these conditions. With so many different wetsuit brands on the marketing offering a variety of technical kit it can sometimes get a little confusing over what winter surf apparel you actually need.
As a C-Skins brand ambassador (for nearly 10 years!) I am extremely fortunate to get the chance to personally test out some of the latest wetsuit technology and have decided to share what I will be wearing this Autumn / Winter season with you all.

Over the next couple of weeks I will be slipping into the C-Skins Wired 5x4 Chest Zip - I find that a UK Size 6 fits me perfectly even though I am a UK Size 8

As the winter season progresses I will add another wetsuit into my quiver and this is the wetsuit that honestly saves my surfing, especially on the coldest of days. C-Skins Wired Hooded 6x5 Chest Zip is a favourite wetsuit for January / February / March.

Why I love these wetsuits

  • Dryknit Thermal Lining - These fleece like lining makes all the difference when you're on in the water waiting for those sets to roll in.

  • Super Seal Collar - I am a big fan of a chest zip wetsuit, I never get any flushes when I duck dive and it they also help lock in my hood when I decided to wear one.

It's not just a good quality wetsuits we need, it's also really important to get the right accessorises. If you feel the cold as much as I do you're going to want boots, gloves and a hood. Here are my top 3 wetsuit accessory picks.

Please don't let the cold stop you from surfing all year round. Just wrap up, invest in some good kit and get out there. We get some of the best waves in the UK over the winter months, here's to happy winter surfs.
