SUPPLEMENTS FOR WINTER

I recently put in my last MyProtein order for 2017 in and along with the usual favourites, I made sure I added some essential vitamins to my basket because the last thing I want to have over Christmas is cold or even worse flu. Which sadly as I write this post I am actually suffering from but fear not it could be worse and I am going to dose up and prevent it from getting any worse.

Before I share with the vitamins I have ordered I must add that these are what work for me. I am not a medical professional or dietician. I simply know I have a terrible immune system and last year seemed to get sick all the time. Taking matters into my own hands I have been supplementing my diet for nearly a year now and can honestly say I have seen a BIG difference. I have managed to go bypass the flu (so far anyway) and any cold I have had only seem to last a couple of days.

I have been religiously taking my supplements every day, sometimes at night or first thing in the morning. I take them with me when I travel to make sure I don't miss a day and like I have already said, I have seen a great improvement in my overall health.

Right, on to the supplements.

1. Vitamin B Complex
Vitamin B Super Complex a blend of 8 B vitamins. Vitamin B6 and vitamin B12 contribute to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue, whilst folate contributes to the normal functioning of the immune system. Did you know, Biotin contributes to the maintenance of normal skin and riboflavin contributes to the maintenance of normal red blood cells.
Zinc and Magnesium is a combination of two dietary minerals (zinc methionine and magnesium citrate) and vitamin B6. Using Zinc and Magnesium has a number of benefits to the body and its functionality. Magnesium contributes to electrolyte balance and the maintenance of normal bones and teeth, the normal functioning of the nervous system and normal muscle function, normal protein synthesis and normal psychological function and a reduction in tiredness and fatigue.

The Zinc component contributes to the normal function of the immune system and macronutrient metabolism, a contribution to the maintenance of normal testosterone levels in blood and normal vision and the maintenance of normal skin/hair/nails and normal bones. It also contributes to normal cognitive function and helps protect cells from oxidative stress.

3. Vitamin C with Bioflavonoids & Rosehip

Vitamin C is an essential water-soluble vitamin that has a wide range of functions in the human body, with its primary function being an excellent antioxidant. We also add bioflavonoids as they enhance the action of Vitamin C and for this reason, they should be taken together.

4. Curcumin and Vitamin D

Curcumin is the active compound in turmeric, a member of the ginger family. Although widely used in Ayurvedic and Chinese medicines for centuries, it’s only recently that curcumin extract has gained popularity as a food supplement.

Vitamin D, on the other hand, is well-known for its range of health benefits and is primarily synthesised under the skin as a result of sun exposure. During winter months many people can become deficient in this essential vitamin, which is why it’s so important to supplement it.

5. Zinc

Zinc contributes to a number of roles in the body. Included in these are; a contribution to the normal function of the immune system and macronutrient metabolism, a contribution to the maintenance of normal testosterone levels in blood and normal vision and the maintenance of normal skin/hair/nails and normal bones. It also contributes to normal cognitive function and helps protect cells from oxidative stress.

6. Vegan Vitamin D3

Vitamin D helps the body absorb and use the minerals calcium and phosphorous*, essential for optimal bone health. And what’s more, it has better bio-availability than conventional vitamin D3 tablets.

7. Vitamin E

Vitamin E contributes to the protection of cells from oxidative stress

8. Active Women Hair Skin and Nails

It’s a breakthrough supplement that helps improve skin appearance, containing a blend of grape extract, melon extract, zinc and vitamin C. Vitamin C contributes to normal collagen formation for the normal function of skin, while the essential mineral zinc contributes to maintaining normal hair and nails.

These are just a few supplements that I regularly take. If you wish to shop the products simply click on the title and use the code: CORINNE20 for discounts!

You may have noticed that I have duplicates of some supplements, this is because I share these with Ben and I also wanted to test out the Vegan Vitamin D3 and Zinc and Magnesium because I have never had these combinations before.
