Turtle Tots Ambassadors

As you may have already seen on my Instagram feed, Albee has been selected as a Turtle Tots Ambassador for Cornwall, which I am so stoked about. It's imperative to both Ben and I that Albee to feels comfortable in the water and to learns how to swim. He may only be 6 months old, but he is already showing clear signs that he loves the water, and we are only three sessions in. He loves it so much he has in fact only cried once ... when we had to give back his foam duck mirror! Babies, they really are brilliant, not phased by going under the water, or having water on his face, he cried when he had to give his mirror back. Classic!

Anyway, let's go back to the beginning

The first lesson

I felt a little nervous but really excited to see how Albee would respond, but as soon as we walked into the pool area, any worries that I had dissapeared. The small group looked really friendly and I had Ben with me for added support.

I have realsied that anything you do with a baby for the first time is daunting. Before the first lessons I had so many questions; where do I put Albee while I get changed, what if he has a dirty nappy while in the pool, what if they scream the entire time ... so many things flashing through your mind, but really there was no need to stress.

The first lesson was all about getting the babies comfortable in the pool and familiarising their faces with the instructor, who is amazing by the way. We sang songs and moved them around the pool in different motions.

Albee loved it and kicked his little legs virtually none stop.

The sessions last 30 minutes, which is the perfect amount of time, by the end of the session they are all ready for some milk and a big sleep.

Lesson number two

The same format as the first lesson but this time we began to teach the babies about holding on. This is a great skill to start to use, and in theory, we can apply this to many aspects of Albee's life later on.

He seemed even more excited than the first week, I think it felt a little familiar to him.

Lesson number three

Albee's first time underwater.

Now, I thought that Albee would be pushed through the water and I would be lying if I said it didn't scare me a little, but I needn't worry, This is not how the Turtle Tots team do things. They like to let the baby take the lead and decide whether they are ready to go. Which Albee certainly was.

Albee went under the water, for a matter of seconds, leaping off the instructor straight into his Daddy's arms.

I couldn't have been prouder of him. Such a new sensation for him and one milestone ticked off the list.

I have been completely blown away by the Turtle Tots lessons, and look forward to every session. If you're considering swimming lessons, I would highly recommend their sessions, but if you want to ask me any questions about our lessons so far just get in touch!
