Cornish Winter Getaway

Treating yourself is quite rare, even rarer these days. So when we were offered a stay at the fantastic Alverton Manor. I saw this as a great way to make some me and us (My Husband) time.

We checked in as close to 3 pm as we could. We wanted to make the most of every minute of our stay. I, of course, had checked out the room, restaurant, menu well in advance. I was determined to pack it all in.

However, I was not prepared for how amazing the room was going to be. We walked in and WOW.
First off, the baths made us want to dive in straight away and forget all the stresses and strains of the outside world. That's what makes a night away so special. For those few hours, it's just about the two of you enjoying a break. No work, no kids, none of the craziness of the outside world. A few hours of just enjoying a bit of luxury. Some great food and drink and two bathtubs. This is still my favourite part. I would have slept in there if I could.

Anyway enough of my love of baths. We wanted to explore a bit before dinner, so headed down to the bar for a pre-dinner drink. A refreshing Gin and tonic in the courtyard was an excellent way to take in the surroundings.

Having a toddler, a few businesses and a job leave very little time for hotel stays, dinners out or baths. Sorry, last bath reference I swear.
So we got dressed, had a drink while we got ready. We put on some music and relaxed. It's these moments that make these stays for me.

Dinner was delicious, the wine was great and the service fantastic. We headed back to our room, full, relaxed and honestly knackered. If you have kids, you know that when you stop it catches up with you. So we donned our robes, put on a movie, and I'm not embarrassed to say, we're fast asleep in ten minutes.

After a fantastic night's sleep, it was so nice to wake up, head downstairs, and enjoy another delicious meal that I didn't have to cook or wash up after, which is the best kind of meal.
We checked out, and real-life resumed. But we were recharged, reconnected, and ready. One night away can make all the difference.
